During my time with New Relic, one of the world's top data analytic companies and a leader in the tech industry, I was tasked with reworking the policy detail page for their Alerts product. To put something very complex into simple terms, Alerts is a notification service that will send the user and email or text when something goes wrong with their site. Each "policy" can contain countless "conditions" within it to be alerted about. When I arrived at New Relic, the Alerts policy detail page was extremely difficult to navigate. Our team of UX designers and engineers worked closely together to find the best possible solution for Alerts customers.

After settling on a table being the best way to display the Alerts information, the first part of my process was to create a flowchart so I could see which screens needed to go where and plan out what information needed to go in the condition table. Though not everything I planned out ended up in the final execution, I found it very helpful to visualize the entire flow of the page at the same time in order to make sure I was covering all my bases.
The final table design made it possible to sort the conditions within the policy by favorited conditions, health status, name, entity type, date last modified, and date created. The table also allowed the user to make edits to a condition or delete in bulk. Hovering over the health column in the table would tell the user what entities within the condition were having problems-- red for critical, yellow for warning, and green for OK. In addition to the table is the condition modal. When the user clicks on a condition in the table, a modal will pop up to give them more information. The modal includes a chart of the entities, the alert threshold, the names and health statuses of the entities within the condition, and the ability to edit the condition.
